Attendance
Leave of absence
Amendments to the Education (Pupil |Registration) Regulations state that headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. A family holiday is not classed as exceptional circumstances.
Illness upon return from abroad
Any child who has been unwell whilst abroad may not return to school until they are fully recovered. A doctor’s note explaining the illness and confirming recovery will be required.
Unauthorised absence
Long unauthorised absences are recorded on your child’s profile – to be passed on throughout his/her whole education. They also damage the school’s reputation as they are recorded as ‘truancy’ in the league table of schools published annually.
